Our first Thai Christmas

In the midst of the holiday season we find ourselves torn with paradoxical emotions. Christmas is a big deal here in Bangkok. Thai people love Christmas and all its festivities. Around the city the Christmas trees are already up and lit and the malls are already brimming with beautiful decorations. However would Christmas really have the same meaning and feel to it if you did not understand the meaning behind the celebration? In America close to every person could tell you that Christmas has it's origin in the Christian faith marking the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Now whether Americans believe in that truth or have made Christ their Savior is a different story. But here in Thailand, the words “Jesus Christ” have yet to be introduced to the majority, and the average Thai person has no clue what Christmas represents.

Our happy, festive and fake Christmas tree.
It's sort of starting to feel like Christmas around here, despite the 90 degree weather

Please join us in praying for the people of Thailand. Our prayer is that God would use this holiday season to point many people (from all cultures and nations) to Himself. We also pray that God would use us to reach out to those that we have developed a relationship with over our last few months here and share the Gospel of Christ and the meaning of Christmas. There will be several opportunities for various missionaries and local churches to do outreaches during this season; please pray that God would maximize the impact of these ministries.
