Return to prayer

As of the last month or so, we have felt especially compelled to seek the work of the Lord more diligently through prayer for the nation and peoples of Thailand. It goes without saying that we have been praying for the ministry, peoples, and Christians in Thailand for more than 3 years now (since being assigned), but we did not have a solid system or routine that ensured we were covering our Thai friends, neighbors, churches, ministries, cities, and country in diligent daily prayer.

We so deeply desire to see people come into a life changing relationship with Jesus, yet the work here is very slow moving. We feel like we are doing everything we can think of to reach out to those around us.

So we had a brainstorming session and we realized there is really nothing more important we can be doing than spending more time in prayer.

We decided to cut out a chunk of time each night, after the kids are down for bed, and pray. We believe that God will use this time to not only make a difference in the nation of Thailand, but He will also use this to mold us into greater followers and servants of Him. We long to see His Kingdom come here on earth (the whole earth!!) as it is in Heaven. We know this is a bold request. And so we ask you to join us in praying with this boldness.

Colossians 4:3-4
"At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison--that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak."

Our current themes for prayer have been these:
  • For God to surprise us with new growth and believers
  • That people would be interested in the gospel as we share it with them
  • Against the power of darkness that reigns over this region (many people in this area participate in spirit worship, specifically a serpent spirit which we believe has a stronghold here)

We ask that you please join us as we pray for the peoples of Thailand, as well as the peoples of the world. As the Alliance family, we have missionaries serving God all over our world. Let's take time together to pray for these missionaries and unreached peoples. Each year we have an oppurrunity to celebrate Great Commission day, by seeking to fulfill Christ's command to us at the end of the gospels. And as we celebrate Great Commission day please consider giving to the GCF (Great Commission Fund) to enable international workers to proclaim and show God's love to our neighbors throughout the earth.

Here's a little more about how to celebrate Great Commission Day 2016:
Great Commission Day is "one of the few opportunities we get each year to come together as the Alliance family to create access to the gospel in places where Jesus’ Name is not yet known. And with more than 4,000 unreached peoples remaining in our world, it will take a concerted, Spirit-empowered effort by every obedient Christ follower to complete the task.
