Progress

Well I am delighted to say that we are indeed making progress in our language learning endeavor. As I have mentioned before there are some days that can be filled with discouragement and frustration, however we can most certainly see progress. Progress is usually seen more distinctly through others eyes than our own.

For example we often don't notice Lauren's rapid and distinct growth in these last three months because we are with him everyday. However, if we stop and think about how far he has come (from crawling to walking, from speaking a few (like 2 or 3) words to being able to now say a handful of words in English and in Thai, etc...)

I'm sure you can see where I am going with this. In order to really see the progress we have made we must stop every so often to reflect on the lengths we have come. In slowing down to reflect, it gives us an appreciation for God's grace and great patience with us during this somewhat trying season.

The five Christ followers who were baptized that day
We had the special privilege to be invited and attend a baptism service. There were five Thai people who were baptized on a sunny Saturday morning and one of them was Lauren's nanny (Boon Nam). She “followed” her husband in his faith some time ago, but she has recently made it her own. And it was such a blessing to share in such a special day.

There are a few events in life that get me chocked up every time in the best kind of way: weddings and baptisms. I can't even begin to describe what an incredible experience it was to be standing in the fellowship of Thai believers watching the baptism service and listening to them sing “I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back.”

Since our last post we have moved to a townhouse near by the Alliance Guest House (where we were previously staying). We are really enjoying this place and it is already starting to feel like a home. We are also taking advantage of having the space to invite others over.  A couple of weeks ago we shared a meal together with our classmates from language school. It was a great time of fun and connection.

First weekend in our new home; dinner with our classmates

As you think of us please pray that God will use us and our new home to impact those in our circle of influence for His Kingdom. Also please pray that God will help us as keep working at learning the Thai language.

We greatly appreciate your steadfast support and encouragement.
